GEORGE LAKEY RETIRES AS EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF TFC

At the end of December, 2006, George Lakey carried out TfC's four-year strategic plan and retired as its founding executive director. His report on the fifteen years of his leadership is on this website.

George, 69, is excited about his expanded opportunity to write, to play with his three great-grandsons, to go on demonstrations, and to play piano. His position as Eugene M. Lang Visiting Professor on Issues of Social Change at Swarthmore College continues until May. George will continue to facilitate occasional workshops, write pieces for the TfC website, and be available to coach Training Associates as they continue to work with groups who turn to TfC for training.

George is being named Executive Director Emeritus and Senior Trainer and Advisor of TfC. He can be reached by his personal email: georgelakey@yahoo.com. Requests for TfC training, literature, and other business of TfC should go to Training Associate Erika Thorne: peacelearn@igc.org.

MARJORIE FULMER RETIRES AS OFFICE COORDINATOR OF TFC

In late December Marjorie closed the TfC Friends Center office at 1501 Cherry Street in Philadelphia and prepared to leave for Alaska, where she will settle in retirement. Alaska is a long-cherished spot for Marjorie, and she goes with great gratitude and good wishes from the TfC community.

NEW OFFICE OF TFC

The new office of TfC will be in Minnesota, coordinated by Erika Thorne: peacelearn@igc.org. See elsewhere on this website the plan of the TfC Board for 2007 as a low-profile year of workshops supplied by Training Associates, in which the organizational emphasis will be on rest and renewal -- a "fallow year."

[Leadership for Change]
LEADERSHIP FOR CHANGE: Toward a Feminist Model
By Bruce Kokopeli & George Lakey

This practical book will help you break away from old leadership forms and head toward empowering change. The book breaks leadership functions down into their component parts, listing 20 separate task and morale functions that good leaders usually perform. It then provides a framework for people who seek to do their work in new ways.
